Marketing is design

Drucker wrote that “the aim of marketing is to make selling superfluous. The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or service fits him and sells itself.”

That phrasing echoes the ideas of Christopher Alexander regarding form being just an outcome of the forces of context shaping it. He gives an example of sand dunes which are the outcome of the winds.
